Event Overview

Hey, Sis — You Don’t Always Have to Be the Strong Black Woman. Come and Rest.

We see you. You are an ambitious black woman who is constantly ON THE GO. Whether it be in your career, business, managing your family, tending to relationships, caring for your parents, church, and everything else.

We applaud you because you keep it moving in a culture where you’re pressured to watch your mouth, don’t play too big, and keep your edges laid without a sweat.

And on another level, behind all the success and smiles. Even deeper, beneath your shielded heart and all the boundaries you have laid, is an overwhelming sense of exhaustion, physically, mentally, emotionally, & spiritually.

We understand how demanding it can be. And we also know that many black women don’t take the time to care for themselves because they don’t have the right support system.

So, what do you do when being strong for everyone else takes its toll?

When it’s time to take a break and allow yourself to slow down?

Luxurious Self-Care Wellness Weekend™ (LSWW) is a six (6) day/ five (5) night Unique Mental Health Experience™ (UMHE) taking place [Dates TBD] in Tampa, FL. We invite you to join us in taking a step back from your busy life and to focus on your journey of self-discovery, healing and sisterhood.

Our goal is for every participant to leave rejuvenated and have their own care plan, ready to step back into the world fresh.

We will focus on the holistic wellness of our participants using the 5 pillars of wellness which are physical, spiritual, mental, emotional, and environmental.

Throughout the weekend we will explore each pillar through various activities such as yoga, workout sessions, meditations, and group discussions.

Our goal is to provide a safe space for attendees to break away from their daily routines and work on self-care. LSWW will open your eyes to a new perspective and self-awareness, allowing you to create the life you have always desired.

About

LSWW is a six (6) day/ five (5) night UNHE curated with today’s Ambitious, High Achieving, Smart, Successful Black Woman in mind who is always on the go managing various aspects of her life.  This includes her family, her relationships, her career, her business, her finances, etc. All the while, she is neglecting her own needs.  Especially her mental health & wellness.

We understand that managing family, relationships, career, business, finances, and more doesn’t leave enough time to take a moment of quiet and focus on oneself.

Our aim is to help you to stop neglecting your needs and develop your own, unique Black Girl Mental Health Care Plan™ and develop your Black Girl Wellness Manifesto’℠ (BGWM). To empower you and support you with making adjustments in your life to allow you to Live in Wellness, Exuberance & Happiness every day.

We will start by helping attendees to shed their superwoman facades to focus solely on themselves, and their personal goals. By taking this step back and allowing yourself time away from the noise and chaos of your everyday life, you can begin to enjoy an environment that cultivates healing, growth, and self-love.

In combination with this, you will be able to make connections with like-minded people who will motivate and inspire you to reach your fullest potential. It is often said that the people around you define who you are, by taking this step with a group of driven women like yourself, you can be sure to find an atmosphere of positivity and peace.

On this Extended, Rejuvenating, Escape from everyday life, attendees will shed their superwoman facades to focus solely on themselves and their personal goals while prioritizing their mental health.

LSWW will feature discussions, seminars, and workshops led by licensed professionals and subject matter experts based on the Twelve (12) Wings of Wellness℠ as outlined in the BGWM, which will support participants in realizing their own personal objectives and develop a plan to achieve them.

By the end of LSWW, each attendee will have developed a Black Girl Mental Health Care Plan™ (BGMHCP) and a customized BGWM that will serve as her blueprint to Live In Wellness, Exuberance & Happiness℠ every day.

BGOTG Founder

Shay Sane, the founder of BGOTG, has lived an exemplary life of service, both to her own mental health and to those around her. A Wellness Coach, Mental Health Advocate, Ambassador for the Invisible Disabilities Association, Community Strategist, Mental Health Volunteer and Travel Influencer, she was born and raised in Washington, D.C.  She has been on her own mental health journey for almost four decades, beginning with therapy sessions at the tender age of thirteen.

After enduring a long battle with illness, Shay’s sister passed away, leaving her to cope with the grief. Shay’s family would travel around the anniversary of her sister’s death as a form of escape from the sorrow. Later, Shay began traveling alone when she experienced distress, needed time to herself, or wanted a clear perspective on life as a single parent, full-time employee, and full-time student.

The euphoric experience Shay encountered while traveling left her with a desire to find out how to facilitate group journeys. What resulted from journeying with a cohort of incredible black women was a deep exploration of previous trauma, something which Shay was not adequately ready or knowledgeable to tackle. Two years later, BGTM was established, concentrating on how travel can provide an invigorating healing to black women.

Shay is living and thriving with high functioning major depressive disorder, high functioning anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, fibromyalgia, epilepsy and currently resides in Clearwater, Florida.
