Our Story

Black Girls On The Go® (BGOTG)/Black Girl Travel Movement™, was established in 2014. We are an innovative wellness brand that is dedicated to empowering STRONG BLACK WOMEN* (SBW) to prioritize their mental health. We firmly believe that mental well-being is an essential component to Live in Wellness, Exuberance &  Happiness™. Through our diverse range of offerings,advocacy, education, events, seminars, workshops including Transformational Travel Experiences (TTraVsperience®) by BGOTG,  we provide safe haven and inclusive environments for SBW to break the silence surrounding the issues that impact their mental health.

Our Approach

Our approach is rooted in a dynamic framework that acknowledges the multifaceted lives and experiences of SBW, providing them with the tools, resources, and community to thrive.

At the heart of our approach are the “12 WINGS of WELLNESS,” a thoughtfully curated set of dimensions that align with the distinct needs and aspirations of SBW. These dimensions have been carefully crafted to address the unique challenges and opportunities faced by SBW on their journey towards holistic wellness.

 

About Our Founder

Shay Sane, a passionate traveler and mental health advocate, founded Black Girls On The Go (BGOTG) in 2014 to empower women of color. BGOTG aims to break stereotypes, overcome barriers, and create a supportive environment for women of color in the travel industry. Sane’s expertise in the travel industry allows her to offer valuable insights and guidance to her community, recognizing travel’s potential for personal growth and healing. Her journey of finding strength and solace in travel serves as a testament to her commitment to empowering women of color.

Our Advisory Board

The advisory board at Black Girls On The Go (BGOTG) is instrumental in ensuring the organization’s success. Their roles underscore a thoughtful approach to implementing effective, culturally sensitive initiatives. The inclusion of accomplished individuals with diverse backgrounds enhances BGOTG’s ability to address the unique mental health needs of Black women.
